CO2 Revolution Advances Sustainable Reforestation and Carbon Offset Initiatives in Spain
CO2 Revolution has entered a new phase of growth and consolidation with the appointment of Juan Hidalgo as its chief executive and general manager. This milestone coincides with the company surpassing one million trees planted across Spain and managing more than thirty forest projects since its inception. The firm specialises in reforestation and the generation of carbon credits, focusing on environmental restoration and emission offsetting.
Having dedicated nearly a decade to projects aimed at environmental restoration and emission compensation, the company is now poised to leverage the expanding voluntary carbon market and the rising European sustainability standards. Juan Hidalgo, a biologist with over ten years of experience in renewable energies and decarbonisation, will steer this new growth phase, focusing on operational expansion and business development.
Since its foundation, CO2 Revolution has implemented forest projects across Spain with methodologies recognised by the Ministry for Ecological Transition. The company has built a reputation for a model emphasising traceability, verification, and measurable environmental impact. A significant milestone was the development of the Atlantic Forest project, one of Spain's first certified under the international Verra VCS standard, regarded as a leading global voluntary carbon market benchmark.
Current projects include Borela II in Pontevedra, where almost 29 hectares impacted by forest fires are being restored, and the Ibercaja Foundation Forest in Villarejo de Salvanes, Madrid, focusing on native species recovery and CO2 absorption. These initiatives demonstrate CO2 Revolution's commitment to ecological restoration and climate action.
The firm believes increasing European regulation on sustainability and corporate reporting will substantially drive demand for certified carbon offset projects in the coming years. The company advocates that reforestation and nature-based solutions will be central to Europe's climate transition and corporate decarbonisation strategies, reinforcing the role of innovative environmental projects in fighting climate change.
