MG has announced the commercial launch of its new MGS9 PHEV in Spain, marking its first seven-seat plug-in hybrid SUV designed to meet family mobility needs. The vehicle arrives with an introductory price starting from 42340 euros when paid in full, with discounts from the company and the Auto Plus Plan reducing the effective price to 32990 euros. The positioning aims to strengthen MGs portfolio of accessible electrified vehicles for families seeking practicality and environmental benefits.

The MGS9 PHEV features a hybrid system combining a 15-litre turbo petrol engine with an electric motor, complemented by an ISG generator and a sizeable 247 kWh battery, one of the largest in its class. This configuration is capable of delivering over 100 kilometres of electric-only range and ensuring high total autonomy, making it suitable for both urban commuting and longer journeys without frequent recharging.

Available in two trim levels, the entry-level Comfort starts at 42340 euros, while the top-tier Premium trim begins at 45340 euros, with discounts bringing the price down to 35990 euros. The MGS9 offers three rows of seats and a maximum boot capacity of 1026 litres with the third row folded, and 332 litres when all seven seats are in use. Comfort features include tri-zone climate control, five USB ports, and a panoramic sunroof, enhancing passenger experience.

In terms of safety, the vehicle has achieved a five-star Euro NCAP rating. It is equipped with the MG Pilot suite, comprising 16 advanced driver assistance systems that enhance safety on the road. The model also boasts a high charging capacity of up to 11 kW in AC mode, surpassing many competitors that typically offer a maximum of 7 kW, enabling quicker recharges and reduced downtime.

The MGS9 PHEV is part of MGs broader electrification strategy that includes the recent unveiling of the full-electric MG6 with an expected 530 km electric range thanks to its 77 kWh battery. Over the next two years, MG plans to introduce at least 12 new models, with a target to become one of the top three brands in terms of new vehicle launches in 2027. The company's strategy emphasises rapid deployment of innovative, environmentally friendly vehicles to capture a growing segment of electrified family cars in Europe.

MGs aggressive product expansion, including models like the MG4 electric version, signifies its commitment to electrification and sustainable mobility. This approach aligns with global trends towards decarbonisation and is supported by ambitious plans to launch new vehicles frequently, ensuring competitiveness and relevance in a rapidly evolving automotive market.
